"Mac Beach"

20" x 60"
oil on canvas
sold

The largest painting I've done and one of the few painted with a palette knife. The winters here are long and cold but the summers are extra special. A panoramic view of Lake Macatawa as it empties into Lake Michigan and the historic "Big Red" lighthouse. Big Red paintings are common here so I wanted to paint one that had the lighthouse in it but without it dominating the piece and without being too red and too cliche.

  1. Probably any well done piece of Big Red will sell. Your exactly right, it seems to be an overdone piece, but for good reason. I like this shot from the other side of the canal, great perspective on the walk so many of us have taken. Beautiful!
