"Old Dodge"

24" x 36"
oil on canvas

A bright red truck in dappled light. I wanted to paint something I could really sink my teeth into...so I picked one of the coolest trucks out there and dove in. .

"Trout"

18" x 36" (3 individual paintings)
oil on canvas
sold

Another one of my passions...trout fishing. These large scale paintings (each one measures 18 x36) were done as a series. I wanted to create large, bold, colorful art with the subject matter being only a means to that end. Included here are "brookie", "bow" and "brown". Three trout found in the rivers and streams here in Michigan.

"Cars"

18" x 36" (3 individual paintings)
oil on canvas
sold

Another set of large scale graphic paintings. This time using old cars to deliver bold graphics and fun colors. A Duesenburg on the grass, a Ford on the road and a BMW in the garage.

"Mac Beach"

20" x 60"
oil on canvas
sold

The largest painting I've done and one of the few painted with a palette knife. The winters here are long and cold but the summers are extra special. A panoramic view of Lake Macatawa as it empties into Lake Michigan and the historic "Big Red" lighthouse. Big Red paintings are common here so I wanted to paint one that had the lighthouse in it but without it dominating the piece and without being too red and too cliche.

"old faithful"

12" x 24"
oil on canvas
$200 (framed)

A great old tractor peeking out of the barn after a long days work...at least thats what I envisioned in this scene.

"Lemons"

11" x 14"
oil on canvas board
$75 (framed)

A loose study of a still life set up at home.

"young cow"

9" x 12"
oil on canvas
Sold

Sorry Mom. This painting hung in my parents family room until it found its new home at The Button Gallery in Douglas, MI. I promised to replace it with a comparable painting and already have a nice one sketched out...so their wall wont be empty for long.

"homeward bound"

24" x 36"
oil on canvas
Sold

Another larger painting completed last year. Animals can be fun to paint and cows are no excepetion. Their scale and their contrasting colors can make for an interesting subject matter. I hadn't seen anybody paint this particular view of cows and thought it would be kind of funny. I was going to title it something else but thought "homeward bound" was more family friendly.

"Summertime"

12" x 16"
oil on canvas
nfs
I always enjoy painting people, especially little kids....its even more fun when its your own son. This is a piece I did last summer of our 2 year old Graham. Emily and I took Graham and the dog to a nearby beach and snapped a ton of pictures. This one caught my eye and I couldn't wait to paint the scene.

"greenspace"

24" x 36"
oil on canvas
Sold

One of my first large scale paintings in oil. A long view of clouds forming over rolling hills.

"Molly"

9" x 12"
oil on canvas
nfs

A quick study of man's best friend...in this case my brother-in-laws best friend, his old dog Molly.

"Drawing a Crowd"

20" x 30"
oil on canvas

There are always a few cars that will draw a crowd...A painterly version of a mini glowing in the sunshine.

Giulietta Spider

12x24
Oil on Canvas
NFS

A closely cropped painting of the iconic front end of a 1956 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider...a birthday gift for my Dad. This one has special meaning as it is a car he owned for many years. It was a joy to paint and even better to suprise my Dad with it. It now hangs in his home office.

"Race Prep"

11x14
oil on canvas panel
$150 (framed)
My first completed oil painting...(not counting school projects) done a couple years ago. It started as a sketch and turned into a quick study in oil. I tried to keep the composition simple and the lighting dramatic and use a brush that was a little wider than I thought necessary to help me stay loose. It hangs in a nice frame in my house for now.
